Rash Vest

Wetsuits

Wetsuits that are thick to keep the wearer warmest tend to become rather uncomfortable if worn for too long a time, thus there are rash vests made expressly to go under your wetsuit.

The rashvest will diminish the problem of having bare skin rubbing against neoprene and nylon which causes skin irritation.

A rash vest will keep you exceedingly warm as it adds yet another layer of insulation to your wetsuit. A good rash vest will protect your skin against chafing and those unsightly rashes too.

The rash vests are often made of Lycra in order to protect you from the ingredients used to make wetsuits. This makes them comfortable as well as manly if worn by a male, or pretty if worn by a female. This is because they come in quite an array of different colors as well as print patterns.

They offer maximum comfort while enhancing the performance you need to move adequately in your wetsuit. The lightweight Lycra will definitely keep you warmer under your wetsuit as well as making the wearing of a wetsuit much more comfortable.

Even if you do not dive in extremely cold water and are not a very active swimmer when you dive, you'll find that the extra warmth given by a rash vest allows you to stay underwater much longer when you are not lowering your own body temperature. A rash vest will offer you the very best thermal protection available. This is why even divers that dive in relatively warm water use rash vests as much as they do.

Those who surf also very frequently wear a rash vest. You see the wax that is on a surfboard tends to come off, creating a bad rash sometimes on the surfer's body. Wearing a rash vest will keep the wax on the vest instead.

A rash vest is meant to be worn snugly against the skin. Not so tight as to hamper breathing nor hamper movements necessary to swim, for instance, but snugly. Skintight is often used to describe the fit of a rash vest. As they are used, rash vests are also known to stretch a bit, thus buying one that is skintight is an excellent recommendation.

Those who wear them under their wetsuits rarely do so for fashion's sake, although some people really look "sharp" in them. There are some excellent ones that look modern in design, somewhat as if they were designed for the newest "Star Trek" movie. There is some versatility in their design too, and they come in either short sleeve or long sleeve designs. Some even have fleecy thermal lining in them as well, but again this is mostly for supremely cold-water temperatures.

The majority of rash vests feature flat stitch construction. Flat stitch is a stitch used to connect two pieces of material in such a way that it has a very even surface. In this way, there are no protuberances that may irritate the skin. There are also usually no depressions in the stitch either, again for the same reason.

A good quality rash vest is a great investment for more water sport comfort and fun!
